This ministry provides an opportunity for Catholic youth to serve God and their parish family. It allows them to play an intricate role in the Mass itself. All members of the parish (10 years of or older) are invited to become Altar Servers.
Readers have been called many names but the most appropriate name is "Proclaimers of the Word."
Men and women are chosen from the community to perform this important role in the Eucharistic Celebration as
well as other rituals and prayer gatherings.
At Sacred Heart Catholic Church, those wishing to participate in this ministry are required to attend
rehearsals training sessions. The training session is scheduled at a time that is most convenient for all.
Once a person has been trained properly, he or she is placed on the schedule and is expected to fulfill
their ministry to the best of their ability.
This title is given to those who have the privilege and honor of distributing Communion at Mass and to the sick who are homebound. One must be a Confirmed Catholic Christian, 18 years old or older. It's an important ministry reserved to those called by the Christian community and properly trained by the Office of Worship (Archdiocese of Lagos). Those who are interested in becoming an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion should contact the Parish Priest.
The Ministry of Hospitality is open to any person (man or woman) who belongs to the Parish. There is training for those men and women who are interested in the ministry, so please see one of the Church Wardens before Mass begins.
We are blessed to have talented parishioners who are willing to share God's gift of music with us. If you feel called to share your special talent, please join us! You can meet with any of the Choristers after each Mass.
Tithe Sunday comes up on the first Sunday of each month where parishioners are prayed for as they come with their Tithe offering. Envelopes are shared and Parishioners can come with theirs on any Sunday of their choice to show gratitude to the Lord.
